We have received several enquiries about the new dog exercise area and would like to provide an update.
Important: The land for this project is owned and managed by Thatcham Town Council, not the Thatcham Memorial Foundation. As we do not control the site, we are unable to open the area or carry out works independently.
We understand and share the community’s frustration regarding the lack of progress.
What Is Happening Now?
✅ The Foundation is actively working with and lobbying the Town Council and West Berkshire Council, who are responsible for the flood alleviation work, to progress the project.
✅ We have formally submitted a range of practical operational options designed to help enable the area to open as quickly as possible.
⏳ The project cannot move forward until the Council has reviewed these proposals and provided a formal response.
Next Steps
We are currently awaiting feedback from Thatcham Town Council on how they wish to proceed.
