The Thatcham Memorial Foundation’s call for help has been answered in full bloom, thanks to the hard work of members of the local Women’s Institute (WI). Volunteers spent the morning planting up the War Memorial’s containers and refreshing several hanging baskets, adding much‑needed colour to one of the town’s most significant community spaces.
The Foundation had appealed for assistance to brighten the site for the summer season, and WI members stepped forward immediately. Their efforts have transformed the area, creating a welcoming and vibrant display for residents and visitors paying their respects.
Thatcham Memorial Foundation would like to thank Jaki, Barbara, Margaret and Maria, whose time, energy and care made the project possible. Their contribution reflects the strong community spirit that continues to define Thatcham.
A special acknowledgement was given to Morne Kriel, who took on the heavy lifting — transporting soil, plants and countless watering cans to the memorial throughout the morning. His support ensured the volunteers could focus on arranging and planting.
