The annual Classic Car Show at Thatcham Memorial Playing Fields has once again proved to be a tremendous success, raising just over £1,000 for the Thatcham Memorial Foundation.
Now in its seventh year, the popular community event is organised by Chris Mountford in conjunction within the Thatcham Memorial Foundation, and continues to attract classic car enthusiasts and visitors from across the local area. The Foundation is incredibly grateful for the generosity of both the classic car owners and members of the community whose donations help support the charity’s ongoing work.
Held on 10th October 2026, this year’s event enjoyed favourable weather helping to draw a strong crowd throughout the day. Visitors were treated to an impressive display of beautifully maintained vehicles including vintage cars, motorcycles, and steam traction engines.

The Foundation would like to extend its sincere thanks to the fantastic team of volunteers and organisers whose hard work and commitment made the event possible. Their efforts, together with the continued support of exhibitors and visitors, help ensure the show remains one of Thatcham’s most popular annual community events.
Thatcham Mayor, Mark Lillycrop, kindly judged the competition for his top three vehicles of the show, made all the more difficult by the quality and shear number of vehicles in attendance. First place was awarded to Mr and Mrs Brockbank for their stunning Austin 18/6, a vehicle first registered in Chester in 1935 and one of the oldest cars in attendance. Second place was awarded to a tastefully modified 1970 Morris Minor Traveller, whilst third place was awarded to an impeccably kept 2009 Jaguar XKR.

A spokesperson for the Thatcham Memorial Foundation said: “We are delighted with the success of this year’s Classic Car Show. Raising over £1,000 is a fantastic achievement and would not have been possible without the generosity of our community, the dedication of our volunteers, and the support of Chris Mountford and all the vehicle owners who take part each year.”
With another successful event concluded, the Foundation looks forward to welcoming exhibitors and visitors back again next year for what has become a much-loved tradition in the local calendar.
